Vehicle Reman is proud to announce that we are working with the East TX Council of Governments (ETCOG) in Kilgore to help in fighting the global pandemic by assembling sneeze shields for paratransit buses, ensuring that the drivers minimize contact with their passengers on the GoBus to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
ETCOG contacted us looking for a solution to protect its public transportation community during this pandemic. Our solution to fighting the spread of COVID-19 in public transportation uses off-the-shelf materials and our skilled labor to construct and install a shield between drivers and passengers. Buses are not built in such a way that makes it easy to separate drivers from the rest of the bus and all of its passengers. The process typically takes 5 hours to install the sneeze shield. All shields are designed to be removed, since no changes are made to any original fixtures or fasteners. Shields can be removed when the ETCOG deems it is safe to do so. As of April 29, 2020, Vehicle Reman has proudly installed 4 sneeze shields. We are supplying a roll of tape for field repairs if there is a rip or tear.
We are grateful for the partnership with David Cleveland, Vince Huerta, and the entire GoBus team in Kilgore. Vehicle Reman has remanufactured 4 of ETCOG’s GoBuses since we opened our doors in 2016. We’ve doubled the life of those buses at LESS than half the cost of buying new ones.
